Reviews
Simply outstanding character country pub set in rural Kent , set back from the road and with ample car parking.
Although the Three Chimneys offers accomodation too, we booked ( strongly advised) for lunch and had a thoroughly fabulous experience.
The staff despite being busy were very welcoming, and a big thanks to Sophie the Restaurant Manager for ensuring all our needs were taken care of.
Now to lunch itself, the prawn and avocado cocktail plus belly of pork starters and the plaice fillet (with new potatoes and spinach)also local pork sausages (with mash) main courses were not just beautifully served but tasty too.
The desert menu was tempting but wisely we settled for coffees!
Old beams, fireplaces, great food, good selection of beers , friendly staff , if I could I would rate this place with 6 stars!
We shall return for sure.
I've had the pleasure of visiting the Three Chimneys a few times and I always love the charm of this old pub. The service is friendly and efficient, and the standard of the food is a notch above the typical pub fare. In winter there is always a cosy fire and on summer evenings the outdoor area is great. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and looking for a watering hole.
Only ate in the restaurant. Menu pretty standard pub fare, why no lamb when all the surrounding fields are full of sheep ?
Food was well executed and portions hearty. Service very good. Excellent 'old English' pub ambiance. Would visit again, worth a detour for tourists in the area.
We had lunch here today, Good ambience and location as well as food generally good, BUT both lamb and beef roasts were wafer thin and quite tasteless, much worse that the simple roasts we do at home, so how was it cooked sous vide or bought in slices?
One thing certain if we go back again we will not have a roast.
Also no custard option for the sticky toffee pudding, why not?
The staff were friendly helpful and efficient from the moment we arrived. We ordered drinks at the bar and they brought them to us once we had found a table outside in the attractive garden.
Unlike another pub I visited recently we were provided with table service despite being outside with everything being put on a tab. We were bought blackboards with the menu on, ordered and the food arrived in reasonable time . Mains and deserts were all well prepared and very tasty. We were also able to order more drinks from the table. A member of staff even came to tell me to tell me I had left the lights on in my car!
Lovely old pub with nicely done extension and lots of outdoor seating. Big car park too. Hard to fault it really and we will definitely be back.
A truly lovely meal. The best in the area. More costly than locally but you get what you pay for. We had a really lovely lunch with friends by a warm fire. It couldn’t have been better.
We popped in for drinks late afternoon - had the most smooth and mellow cappuccino - I think it’s the best I've ever had actually. Ancient 14th century gem of a pub. It’s all low ceilings, wonky doorways and ancient beams. Everything is slightly out of true and I felt quite off kilter as I wandered around the place. We’ll be back next time to eat.
Not child friendly. No children’s menu. Staff seemed almost shocked by children’s presence which left us feeling a bit unwelcome.
The pub is very cosy and cute and probably great for older couples wanting drinks and dinner. Good food.
